Nonprofits of Beaufort and Down East, join us Friday, Dec. 2nd as the Downtown Beaufort Development Association lights up the waterfront and raise awareness and support for local organizations.

Each participating team will decorate a wreath in the spirit of their organization’s mission and vision. Wreaths will go on display by mid-afternoon Friday, Dec. 2nd and the public is invited to walk the boardwalk and cast votes for their favorite wreaths until the town Christmas Tree lighting begins at 6 pm. The top scoring entries will be awarded prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Wreaths will be displayed along the boardwalk through the evening of Sunday, Dec. 4.

Wreaths will also be up for silent auction during the event with an opening bid of $50. The DBDA will donate a majority percentage of individual auction sales back to the represented organization.

The Wreath Decorating Contest & Silent Auction is in its second year, and will take place alongside the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, complete with live music and hot cocoa. Last year, the event drew nearly 150 people. We expect to double that number this year.

The Wreath Contest offers a unique opportunity to connect with possible donors and volunteers in a casual, fun, cheer-filled setting. We hope to connect with you, and help YOU connect with a wider pool of resources for your organization. Wreaths and hangers will be provided by the DBDA, but entrants are responsible for their own decorations and battery-powered lighting.

Organizations must be based (or spend a majority of time and resources) in Beaufort or the Down East area to qualify for the contest. There is no fee to participate. Sign up for the contest or request more information by emailing Pat Wesson at pfwesson1@yahoo.com or calling her at 252-241-2201.
